Welcome to the Td5 Map Suite web page

This projects aims to build a set of Open Source tools for Td5 map management. At the moment there are two projects under development: Td5MapEditor and GraphicViewerCSV. The idea at the base is to develop cross-platform application in order to run them natively under every OS. At this stage only Td5Mapditor is cross-platform and it has been developed using wxWidgets and Code::Blocks as IDE. GraphicViewerCSV is an MFC application and is native under Microsoft Windows. It has been tested under GNU/Linux (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS) using Wine 1.5 and it runs flawlessy. I will start the porting to wxWidgets soon.

History and thoughs...

December 18th, 2017

In 2010, the year I bought my Nanocom, I was very curious about the content of the map file, so I started investigating with WinOLS Demo. After a period of try and check I was able to rebuild the whole structure of the tables. Then I discovered (on CLRTTE forum) that checksum was a simple 16 bit sum of the file so I started making my first tuning using WinHEX for changing data. The procedure was tedious, risky and uncomfortable, since I use Linux and I had to install both programs under WINE (they worked, but they had some flaws). So I decided that, since I write software for a living, I could write an editor for myself. An editor that could run under Linux. With a lot of luck (and thanks to my ancient Commodore programming) I doscovered a strange table at the end of the file .map that contained all the tables addresses (the way Commodore KERNAL did). That opened the road to the creation of Td5MapEditor.
It must have been a FREE, CROSS-PLATFORM and PORTABLE software. Those were my initial goals and still are. When I could use the software for real mapping I wanted to share it publicly. I was hoping to find other developers with ideas and different platforms to try it on ( I still miss an Apple Mac developer :-( ). Unfortunately I could not find any other developer so, three years after starting coding, I got bored and stopped the developing, even though the software was still incomplete. Following the prompt I received in November, the developing is again on the way and hopefully I will release the final version before the mid of the next year.

But...
With TunerPro being very mature and professional and DiscoTd5.com providing XDF configuration files for a very small fee, I do not see any reason for using Td5MapEditor anymore, UNLESS:
a) You do not want use Microsoft Windows
b) You need a PORTABLE software

Last consideration is:
In these years I have received LOTS of requests for maps (expecially for Discovery). Initially I made some, but then I started to gently drop requests and finally I stopped responding. I do not want to sound rude, but I AM NOT A TUNER, I am a software developer. I provide the software that helps tuning but I DO NOT HAVE THE TOOLS TO MAKE REAL TUNES. The maps I released were the ones I tried on my Defender and I thought other people might want to try them. But I cannot take the risk to send a faulty tune and brick the receiver ECU or (worse) damage his engine

So, PLEASE, do not ask me for maps.

Software developing alive again :-)

November 10th, 2017

Exactly 3 years after the Sotware development was completely stopped I started spending some time on it again. The prompt came from a WhatsApp message from a friend that informed me that something new has been shared on the net about Td5 Map Tuning. I foungd that all the main tables have been discovered, all measure units known and... my Td5MapEditor is not ussable anymore. So I read all info from www.discotd5.com and Africaland and made the first mods to align my software with latest news. I re-assigned map tables correct names and axis labels and addend new tables. Hopefully I will dedicate it enough time to add other useful addons.

Map and Software developing stopped

November 8th, 2014

Eventually I got tired of experimenting with Td5 maps and I moved to another hobby. I am sorry but promised version 1.1.1 will not see the light for the time being. Maybe one day I will get into this project again and I will develop new functions. I will still answer to mail but please do not ask me for maps because I will not do any other test anymore (too risky for my ECU) and I will not release untested maps.

Td5 map Editor Printing coming soon!

To whoever asked me I have always answered that printing was not possible at this stage due to a design incompatibility between my self-created Graphic Engine and wxWidgets printing system. I have always though that a full Graphic Engine re-design was necessary. And it takes huge time. But I was wrong! It was a small bug in the 2D engine that prevented the image to print in the right position. And a very easy to fix one! Last night I spent some hours on the project and today I can print 2D and 3D graph with no problem at all. Many other things needs to be done before releasing it (first of all the data table printing) but I think Printing will make it for release v1.1.1 :-)

Website: English only language available

December 18th, 2012

From now on I will maintain this site only in English. I am lazy and duplicating every entry in both languages prevented me to update frequently. Td5MapEditor is stalling, I have new projects I am working on and my everyday work is keeping me very occupied. Since all of this is just a hobby I had to stop the developing for a while. I hope to find somebody interested in extending the program: do not forget it is OPEN SOURCE!!!! I have some ideas I hope to realize one day: porting GraphicViewerCSV to wxWidgets (cross-platform) and Android (!!!), creating an Android version of Td5MapEditor.
